2023 SHELL GREEN T20 MATCH - 25 APRIL

The Brookfield United Cricket Club and the Australian Defence Force join together every ANZAC Day to compete in the Annual Shell Green T20 match, which pays tribute to ANZAC Day and the service and sacrifice of Australian military personnel. The match is named in honour of a famous game of cricket played by Australian troops during World War 1 at Gallipoli's Shell Green location. The game was played on December 17, 1915, as a diversionary tactic, it was abandoned due to Turkish shells landing nearby.

Well supported by the local community,  the ANZAC Day Shell Green T20 match received recognition in 2018 as the Brisbane Lord Mayor Australia Day Community Event of the Year. Support for the day has grown significantly with more than 5,000 people in attendance, and it is an official part of ANZAC Day events held in Brisbane. Prior to the commencement of the cricket match, a service is held to remember the sacrifice of Australian, New Zealand, and Sri Lankan service personnel during World War 1.

Last year unfortunately weather intervened causing the match to be abandoned. Both sides will be looking to secure victory and bragging rights for the next year.

The day is great for the whole family with plenty of activities, food and coffee vans, activities put on by QLD Cricket, and of course the big match.
